Papillons Infrastructure Nature is a young company founded in October 2023, driven by the EcoCharge project, initially developed within the organization Earth Day Canada. In light of the significant growth of the project and its impact on the electric mobility ecosystem, it quickly became essential to establish its own entity. This led to the emergence of Papillons, positioning it as a key player in the electric mobility sector in Canada.
As of today, EcoCharge is the third-largest fast-charging network in Eastern Canada. Primarily located in Quebec and New Brunswick, the network already has over 120 fast-charging ports in operation. By the end of 2025, it will include 190 ports across 146 stations, installed at 70 IGA supermarkets. Compatible with all electric vehicle models, EcoCharge stations offer charging times between 20 and 30 minutes — perfect for doing your grocery shopping or taking a break on a longer trip.
This project was launched in 2019 by the charity Earth Day Canada in collaboration with the Sobeys supermarket chain, IGA merchants, and the Fonds Éco IGA. In October 2023, Papillons Infrastructure Nature became the main manager of the network. Papillons is now responsible for the entire development and implementation of the network, manages all operations, and also promotes it.
At the heart of environmental action, Papillons shares its expertise in ecological transition to help its partners adopt sustainable practices in the field of mobility.
